Letter: Earwicker should be MP

OVER the last week the Daily Telegraph has published a lot of information about many of the Cabinet Members and other MPs claiming a lot of money from the taxpayers.
Also apparently the Police are now going to investigate the money given to MPs.
However, about five weeks ago, Ray Earwicker, Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bracknell, wrote a letter to the Bracknell News saying Andrew MacKay, the Bracknell MP, had claimed the largest second home allowance in 2007/08 and should not get so much money.
Thus five weeks later Daily Telegraph gave the information about Andrew MacKay and he has had to resign from David Cameron Conservative Parliamentary aide.
As Ray Earwicker was so correct and advanced about Andrew MacKay"s claiming too much second home allowance, hopefully Ray Earwicker should become the next Bracknell MP at the next election.
Many of the Cabinet Members and other MPs have been claiming a lot of money for their second houses and also for many other things.
Gordon Brown paid £6,577 for cleaning work between 2004 and 2006 to his brother Andrew.
Also Gordon Brown paid £150 for plumbing work.
He then claimed the money from the taxpayers and claimed twice for £150 but did return one £150 eventually.
I have never got any money from the government to pay for any of my plumbing.
Thus we must have a new system that controls the money that goes to the Prime Minister and the MPs. That means the system is controlled by an independent honest group of people and not by Parliament. Perhaps some Judges should be in charge of the money that MPs get.
Back in the early 60s I was getting about £1000 per year for working and the MPs were getting about £1500 minimum.
When I retired in 2003 I was getting £21 000 but the MPs minimum was over £50 000 and the MPs pay money had gone up way above inflation.
They also get very good pensions and get a lot of other allowances that is for their housing and other things.
What we should do to improve our environment, is to reduce the number of MPs to 500 in the Parliament and thus save money and reduce our taxes.
This year yet again, my Council Tax has gone up by 4.8%, that is way above inflation.
Since I retired, my Council Tax has gone up by 38% while my Old Age Pension has gone up by 26%.
I have some money invested in a Bank but this year the interest rate has gone down dramatically and I don"t get much interest money.
The current systems are not good for my personal money.
There are clearly problems in the Government.
We need a darling PM and a darling Chancellor of Exchequer to control our taxes and the UK businesses.
