Letter: Convenience of loo row

I note the letter from Councillor Keith Baker making reference to the cuts in public services in Woodley ('Closing the lid on loo debate', Chronicle, February 18) and how his Tory group on Wokingham Council completely removed the public toilets without consulting the public or putting in an adequate replacement.

It's not good enough to force people into a small coffee shop or to travel further and cross a busy road for disabled people to use toilets at the Oakwood Centre.

Councillor Baker then compounds his flawed argument by reference to a proposed new toilet in a library with strange and impractical opening hours with further problems for radar key holding disabled people. This coming on the back of deep cuts in other vital public services like social care again in the 2010/11 budget just announced.

Keith Baker is hardly in a position to lecture the Lib Dems in Woodley when he and his Tory colleagues can't even organise or sort out the toilets.

Councillor Baker should concentrate on his job and sort out the ridiculous potholes all over Woodley instead of being the Tory mouthpiece and party electioneering.
