I have lived near the Jolly Anglers and Fisherman"s Cottage for over four years and with both pubs open it has brought in a lot of business.

I have seen landlords from the Jolly Anglers come and go. When the last landlord took the pub in February the pub became a complete success. I"ve never seen the Jolly Angler so packed out day in, day out.

I feel sorry for the landlord, he"d only had the pub for five minutes and the regulars loved it. Boat owners would dock and fill their water tanks and meet up with other regulars.

Now there"s only one pub left along here. These two pubs were meeting points for families, local residents and boat owners, walkers and so on for many years.

I know there"s a credit crunch but if by chance both pubs were to close some would have to travel into town where many of the pubs cater for students with loud music and drunken teens. Families prefer to go to a quiet place for a decent pub meal. I can"t see elderly people dancing to today"s music at a pub/night club alongside youths in the town centre.
