Letter - Drivers on verge of breakdown

AS Richfield Avenue from Caversham Bridge to the Rivermead roundabout has become a permanent car park seven days a week, would it not be sensible for the grass verges to be removed and proper parking lay-bys be created?

Presumably the council allowed too many residential dwellings to be built with insufficient parking spaces. Anyone driving westbound has no option but to drive down the centre of the road and any driver turning right into the Toby Carvery restaurant has to hope following motorists realise this and don"t just assume the indicator is on to overtake the mass of parked cars.

This is a major road to bypass the town centre and should be recognised as such.

S Clarke (Mrs)

Richmond Road, Caversham

i think that might already be the plan mrs clarke - they're rebuilding cow lane bridges remember to cope with traffic so richfield av / portman road will become a bypass. can't see them allowing parking when that happens.

i think there was a story awhile ago with a timetabke showing when roadworks were being done
