IT was third time lucky for a green-fingered retired couple when they won Garden In Bloom.
Terry and Lyn Luckraft won this year's gold medal in Park ward after impressing councillors with their colourful and neatly cultivated garden.
Their front and back garden in Almshouses, off Kings Road, has received positive comments from passers-by and Mrs Luckraft, 66, is delighted with the recognition after finishing second the previous two years.
Mrs Luckraft said: "It has mostly been my husband's work because I had an operation this year, but he has done a fantastic job.
"The competition is a great incentive to people to keep their gardens looking good.
"Keeping the garden tidy and looking good is an easy and fun excuse to get outside."
Councillor Natasha Airey was one of the judges of the competition which handed out 50 awards. She said: "It takes a long time to go round all the gardens, but it is one of the nicer elements of being a councillor. It is great to see people enjoying their gardening and we were spoilt for choice.
"Mr and Mrs Luckraft's garden was beautiful and they are deserving winners."
