FORMER England manager Roy Hodgson officially opened the Arbour Park Community Sports Stadium, the home of Slough Town Football Club, today (Wednesday).

Hodgson managed the England between 2013 and 2016, guiding the national team to the quarter-finals of the European Championships in 2012, before exit at the Group Stage of the 2014 World Cup and defeat to Iceland in the last 16 of the 2016 Euros.

Hodgson, also a former Fulham, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion boss, opened the £8.42 million pound community stadium in front of guests which included Sohail Munawar, the leader of Slough Borough Council.

Hodgson gave his thoughts on the new sports stadium and the benefits it will have on the community, plus the future of artificial pitches in the sport.
