SLOUGH High Street fell silent to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Shoppers, residents and councillors observed a two minute silence at 11am today to pay tribute to the soldiers who have lost their lives during conflict.

Slough mayor Joginder Bal said: "It is important that we remember those who have fought for our freedom."
