A NEW activity centre has officially opened.

The newly refurbished Salt Hill Activity Centre held its grand opening on Monday, the culmination of 12 months of works to transform the building from a ten-pin bowling alley into an indoor activity centre, complete with a trampoline park and indoor high ropes.

In order to help launch the new building, residents are invited to try out the facilities for free tomorrow (Saturday) at a community event, which will also include a number of other attractions like face painting and balloon modelling. Attendance must be booked in advance at www.everyoneactive.com/centre/salt-hill-activity-centre.

Cllr Rob Anderson, lead member for environment and leisure, said: “Yesterday we welcomed the first members of the public to our newest leisure facility. We are excited to be providing this unique activity centre, designed to bring families and friends together, to have fun while also being active.

“We are committed to making Slough one of the most active towns in the UK and what better way to start than by providing residents with top class leisure facilities. Our leisure strategy is simple: More people, more active, more often.”

The building is part of Slough Borough Council’s £62 million leisure strategy, which is helping to drive upcoming projects like the new sports facility, The Centre, in Farnham Road, scheduled for completion in 2019.

The building was constructed by Slough Urban Renewal, a partnership between SBC and building firm Mogan Sindall, who expressed their delight with its completion.

Andy Howell, SUR general manager, said: “This is a transformational project. The new activity centre is going to provide fun-filled days out for the whole community and we very much look forward to seeing the reaction of local people this Saturday.”
