A CONSULTATION about the changes to adult social care has been launched, as Bucks County Council considers making people with high savings pay the full charge for the care they receive.

Those with £23,250 or more in savings and investments, which makes up around 25 per cent of all the adult service users, will be asked to pay the full cost of their care under the proposed scheme.

Residents directly affected by the changes will be sent information about the proposed increases, alongside a postal survey in order to collect feedback.

Lin Hazell, cabinet member for health and wellbeing for Bucks County Council said: “We need to manage our budgets very carefully in order to balance increasing costs with making sure the most vulnerable people in the county get the care they need to stay independent for as long a possible.”
