AN hotel can now boast it employs the ‘Hotel Chef of the Year’.

André Garrett, executive head chef at Cliveden House, was named top chef (fewer than 250 covers) in the Hotel Cateys 2017 award ceremony.

Mr Garrett joined Cliveden in 2013, having worked previously with prominent chefs such as Nico Ladenis and Guy Savoy.

Mr Garrett manages Cliveden’s Andre Garrett Restaurant, and its Astor Grill.

After winning the award at London’s Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, on Friday of last week, Mr Garrett said he was ‘feeling amazing’.

The Cliveden restaurant is currently ranked No19 in the Waitrose Good Food Guide 2018, and has three rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide 2018.

Andrew Stembridge, executive director of Iconic Luxury Hotels, said: “This is a fabulous accolade for André and we are immensely proud of his achievements.

“Historically, Cliveden was probably the most renowned hotel outside London and to have achieved this wonderful Hotel Catey Award reinforces the message that Cliveden is well and truly back on the map.”

Over 700 top chefs and hoteliers attended the awards, amongst which were a number of other chefs shortlisted for the award, including Andrew Green of the Lowry, Salford and Chris Harrod from The Whitebrook, Monmouth.
