TWO men have been jailed for a total of nine years for an unprovoked assault on two people in Maidenhead last year.

Jamie Molloy, 20, of Cromwell Drive, and George Grimes, 19, of Goodwin Road, both Slough, pleaded guilty to charges of grievous bodily harm -whilst separately being found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent by a jury.

They were sentenced on Tuesday at Reading Crown Court and received a sentence of four years and six months imprisonment each.

At 3.30am on December 4, both men launched an unprovoked attack on two people in Queen Street, Maidenhead. A 19-year-old man was kicked and punched to the ground, while a 23-year-old woman was pushed over and punched twice in the face.

The man received a fractured cheekbone, and the woman had two cuts on her face that needed to be glued closed, and have now scarred.

Both men were arrested on December 7, and charged the next day.

Detective constable Sara Harrison of Maidenhead Police said: “This was an unprovoked attack on two members of the public, who have been left traumatised by the incident.

“Both men have now been convicted and, as a result, will serve lengthy sentences which I hope will help to gain a sense of closure for the victims of this nasty attack.”
