SLOUGH Borough Council has initiated the process for choosing a new chief executive.

The post is currently being held in an interim capacity by Roger Parkin. This Monday, August 7, Slough Borough Council began advertising for the position, and opened up a location on the website to receive applications. The process is monitored by an external recruitment agency.

Mr Parkin has been the interim chief executive since July last year, when the previous holder of the post, Ruth Bagley, was signed off ill. She finally left the council in December.

The closing date for applications is Monday, August 28.

On September 4, the Appointments Sub-Committee will meet to determine a list of possible candidates, prior to interviews over 11 and 18 September. A shortlist of candidates will then be decided upon.

The second round of the recruitment process will happen on September 25, where short-listed candidates will complete trials such as 'verbal reasoning and competency based assessments'.

The final round will then take place on October 9, where the remaining candidates will undergo a two-day interview programme that includes ward visits, member meetings, and discussions with a stakeholder panel and a employee's panel.

The Appointments Sub-Committee will make their final recommendation to the council after this round concludes. The date for this recommendation has yet to be decided.
