A smoking extractor fan caused chaos last night, leading to the evacuation of flats above a restaurant in Slough High Street.
Firefighters from Langley and Slough were called to the Kabul Palace restaurant at 9.30pm when smoke began pumping out of an exhaust vent on top of an outside extractor fan unit, affecting the Kabul Palace and the restaurant next door as well as flats above.
The evacuation was carried out as a safety measure but firefighters were able to make the vent safe without having to use breathing apparatus and the incident was closed after an hour and a half, allowing residents to go back inside.
