A NINE-year-old pupil from The Stoke Poges School has beaten thousands of other primary school children to make the grand final of a popular word-based game.

Anouska Wedrychowski came up trumps to make the national final of The Bananagrams Challenge, which will take place on April 29 at the Magic Circle in London.

Anouska will compete against 11 other contenders from across the country aged between eight and 11. She not only beat her classmates to get to the final, her skills were also good enough to beat others nationally during online challenges.

Bananagrams involves having to create words in grids and the challenge was opened up to 1,500 schools nationally to help improve their vocabulary.

Anouska said: “I was so surprised and shocked to get to the final of The Bananagrams Challenge.

“I love playing Bananagrams at school and with my family, and learning lots of new words.”
