AN ELDERLY woman was seriously injured when a car collided with her in Iver on Monday.

The victim, who was in her nineties, was hit by a blue Ford Fiesta and was believed to have been standing at a bus stop.

Police said they were called to the scene in Langley Park Road, near the Red Lion pub and Hollybush Lane in Iver at about 10.40am.

On Wednesday a sign was on display at the bus stop directly opposite the pub, notifying motorists of the incident and calling for witnesses.

The woman sustained severe injuries and was flown by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in London.

On Wednesday Thames Valley Police said the woman had sustained serious injuries in the collision but was in a stable condition in hospital.

The road was temporarily closed on Monday while the emergency services attended the scene and tried to piece together what had happened.

On Tuesday investigating officer PC Stuart Holt, from the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who saw the vehicle travelling prior to the collision.

“Anyone with any information which could assist our investigation should contact police as soon as possible.”

A 47-year-old woman from Wexham was arrested on the same day on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving. She has been bailed until May 19. Police are still trying to work out exactly what led to this serious incident.
