Slough Council's Commissioner for Education and Children's Services Cllr Sabia Hussain visited pupils at Penn Wood Primary School to take part in a specially designed Be Food Smart lesson.

The pupils at the school in Penn Road learned how to make healthier food and drink choices using the new Be Food Smart app, which was launched as part of Public Health England’s Change4Life campaign earlier this year.

They also learned how much saturated fat, sugar and salt is in their favourite everyday food and drinks.

Cllr Hussain said: "By getting kids to eat better today, we are creating the healthier adults of tomorrow.

“Through events such as this and by teaching more people to make use of the Be Food Smart app, we are equipping both kids and parents with the confidence and knowledge to form positive eating habits that will benefit the whole family.”

Nick Stevenson, Healthy Schools Lead at Penn Wood Primary School said: “At Penn Wood Primary School, we’re passionate about teaching children healthy habits from a young age; learning how to make healthier choices now sets them up for a better future."
