A THIEF who targeted the elderly and vulnerable during a spate of crime earlier this year has been convicted.
Police said the actions of Adrian Hogg, 35, of George Street, Weston-Super-Mare, were fuelled by drug addiction.
Hogg committed a number of crimes in Slough between January 24 and 28 this year.
First, he burgled the home of a man in his eighties in Granville Avenue - stealing a 40-inch television, a video camera and a guitar and damaging the property in the process.
He also stole a handbag containing money and debit cards from the home of a woman in her eighties in Beechwood Road.
Finally, he stole alcohol and food from a BP petrol station in Farnham Road.
Hogg was arrested on Sunday and charged on Monday.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of dwelling burglary and two counts of shoplifting at Slough Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court for sentencing with a date yet to be confirmed.
Investigating officer Det Con Natasha Gidda, of Slough Local CID, said: “This was a case in which elderly and vulnerable people had their homes broken in to by Hogg who pleaded guilty to the offences at the first opportunity. He showed remorse for his actions which were fuelled by drug addiction.
“However burglary is an intrusive crime and the offences had a significant impact upon the victims. Shoplifting has an impact on business owners and staff who work hard to provide jobs and opportunities for local people."
