TWO Slough men have been slapped with a fine for fly-tipping in South Bucks.

James Alan Brick, 36, of Pemberton Road, Slough, and Billy Jack Long, 22, of Stafford Avenue, Slough, have been fined after pleading guilty to fly-tipping offences.

Surveillance cameras specifically targeting fly-tippers caught the pair on Billet Lane, Wexham, depositing branch waste from their van on August 25, 2016.

They were fined a total of £1,309 between them at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on March 15.

Both men admitted to their offences when interviewed by police but claim they had attempted to take their rubbish to the Langley Household Recycling Centre, but because there was no free access for their van they were unable to get rid of the waste correctly.

Red ants on the branches became a nuisance which caused the men to deposit the branches at the roadside on Billet Lane, adjacent to Langley Park.

Sir Beville Stanier, Chairman of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire, said: “It may seem a trivial matter to deposit tree waste by the roadside in a woodland area, but there is always a clean-up cost to the council taxpayer.”

The Waste Partnership launched the Illegal Dumping Costs campaign in November 2003 to combat illegal dumping and waste management offences in Buckinghamshire. The Partnership has secured 579 convictions against individuals and companies for illegal dumping and related offences. This has resulted in a halving of reported incidents and a significant saving to the Buckinghamshire tax payer over the period, principally through reducing removal and disposal costs.
