AN OFTEN controversial delivery service has launched in Slough this week.

Deliveroo - whose army of blue-clad cyclists with boxes on their backs can be seen in major towns and cities around the country - are set to invade Slough after the booming food delivery service announced its launch in the town this week.

Their cyclists have angered residents in the Windsor area in recent months by hurtling down the pedestrianised Peascod Street on their bikes - narrowly avoiding people on foot.

The service hopes to create opportunities for more than 50 riders in the first year of operations in the town.

More than 15 Slough restaurants have signed up to the service so far, including Pizza Express, Steakout, The Grill Garden and Woksta.

Caroline Hazlehurst, General Manager at Deliveroo, said: “We’re extremely excited to be launching in Slough and we’re looking forward to bringing some of the town’s delicious dishes straight from the hands of local chefs to customers’ doors.

“We already have a number of great partners across the town and we are excited to expand and widen the variety of restaurants on offer to our customers in Slough over the course of the next year.”

Restaurant Manager at Woksta, said: "Woksta are very pleased to be partnering with Deliveroo, allowing us to channel our energy into growing and running our business while having all the hassle of the deliveries taken away."

You can order food through the service's app or website between 12pm and 11pm.
