SLOUGH Borough Council has been accused of having a negligent attitude towards Colnbrook after its doctor’s surgery was closed down.

Vice chairman of Colnbrook with Poyle Parish Council finance committee Peter Hood, along with Colnbrook residents, handed over a petition with more than 300 signatures to the surgery in High Street on Friday, February 10, its final day of operation.

The petition argues that with no direct public transport from Colnbrook to Langley Health Centre, and no special provisions put in place by Slough Borough Council, the village needs a surgery of its own.

Mr Hood said: “We feel like Slough Borough Council (SBC) have forgotten about us.

“We have always had a doctor’s surgery in the village, but now our residents have to travel to Langley.

“The local bus bypasses the village, leaving us without public transport.

“We’re still trying to sort out a new place for a surgery in the village, but we’re running out of ideas.”

Mr Hood added: “Lots of money is spent on Slough town centre, but a lot of that money comes from the freight business, which is mostly in Colnbrook.

“That business is booming, but we aren’t getting an equitable return on what we’re putting in.”

Dr Nazaff Adam, Managing Partner at Langley Health Centre, said a good service would be maintained at Langley Heath Centre.

A spokesperson for SBC said: “The 81 bus goes through the High Street so there is a way to get to the GP surgery in Langley, albeit they will need to travel to Slough Bus Station before taking the no 7 which stops close to the Common Road surgery. We are in the process of seeing what other arrangements can be made.”
