A MURDER investigation has been launched after a pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on the M4.
At around 10pm on Friday a man reportedly wandering along the inside lane of the eastbound carriageway between junction 10 Winnersh and 8/9 Maidenhead near the ongoing roadworks was in hit by a car.
Emergency services were called by a female driver involved in the crash and the man, who was in his forties, was declared dead at the scene. A post mortem is being carried out this afternoon.
Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Ward from Thames Valley Police Major Crime said the death is now being treated death as a murder.
He added: “I therefore ask that if anyone was travelling along this stretch of motorway on Friday night and saw anything which could help our investigation to get in touch immediately.”
