DETECTIVES and immigration officers swooped on a Reading service station to catch 15 illegal immigrants from west Africa.

Police officers and the Home Office Immigration Enforcement unit arrested 15 people from Eritrea at the westbound M4 service station on Friday who are believed to have entered the UK illegally.

The 10 men and two women aged between 22 and 29 have been placed on immigration bail while their cases are progressed, while three boys were taken into the care of social services after being age assessed.

Home Office spokesman Richard Crowe said: “We work closely with police to tackle illegal immigration. Where someone is found to have no legal right to remain in the UK we will take action to remove them.”
