Firefighters spent more than an hour battling a flat fire in Kennet Island, Whitley, this afternoon.
The alarm was raised at around 2.45pm when an electric fan caught ablaze in a child's bedroom and crews from Whitley, Caversham and Dee Road were sent to put it out.
The fire caused significant damage to the room, and the rest of the flat was affected by smoke.
Four breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.
A man, woman, and one-year-old toddler were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital to be assessed.
Watch manager Newton, from Caversham fire station, is asking the public to be aware of where they place their electrical appliances.
