A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed.

Police were called to an address in Alton Place, Hampshire Avenue in Slough at about 12.30am today (Wednesday) following a report of a man being stabbed.

A 38-year-old man was found at the scene with several stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Det Sgt Lucy Deane, of Slough CID, said: "It is very early on in the investigation but at this stage we believe the victim and the alleged offender were known to each other and we are not treating this as a random incident."

"A man has been arrested and is currently in custody for questioning."

"We would like to speak to anyone who heard any form of disturbance in the Alton Place, Hampshire Avenue area of Slough from about 10pm last night (7/8) until 12.30am this morning (8/8), either in the street or from within a property."

Anyone with information should call Det Sgt Deane via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
