AN INDEPENDENT consultant will analyse hundreds of responses to healthcare changes across east Berkshire in the next step of the Shaping the Future initiative.
More than 400 people have given feedback about potential healthcare changes via questionnaires and during roadshows in Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot and Bracknell.
The initiative is part of the Shaping the Future programme, a joint commitment by the NHS organisations serving East Berkshire that was launched in summer last year, to find long-term solutions for hospital and community health services.
The next step will see an independent consultant analyse the community feedback received to highlight key themes from the pre-consultation.
The document will be added to the business case, currently being drawn up by Shaping the Future officials, which will propose what new healthcare services would look like - before the plans went to public consultation.
NHS Berkshire chief executive, Charles Waddicor, said: "We are really pleased that people have taken the trouble to get involved in our Shaping the Future programme. Every response will be taken into account in our final proposals later this year.
"Our aim is to ensure clinically and financially viable, high quality health services are in place to meet the needs of local people for years to come. We will only get it right with the benefit of the experiences of local people. We will only make changes where the patient benefits are clear."
Firm proposals will be drawn up in the business plan, which would need to be rubber-stamped by South of England Strategic Health Authority and NHS Berkshire chiefs, before going to a three-month public consultation.
The independent assessment is expected to be published later this month. For more information visit www.berkshire.nhs.uk/shapingthefuture
