U-turn for closed club if proposals are approved
AN EX-SERVICES club could get a fresh lease of life if a new planning proposal is given the green light.
The Windsor Ex-Services Club, in St Leonard's Road, closed its doors on Sunday, June 3, as membership declined.
However, the club has struck
a deal with developer SG Investment to demolish the club and
build a new, two-storey one in its place.
If plans are approved, the new club will stand alongside eight, three-storey townhouses on the site.
The rent from one townhouse will fund the maintenance of the club.
The proposals include new facilities to encourage young ex-servicemen to join. These could also be used by the community.
A decision on the proposal is expected to be made by Tuesday, August 14.
