Masked men snatch cash box containing £9,500
TWO masked men threatened a security guard before snatching £9,500 from him early today.
The guard was collecting a cash box from the McDonald's restaurant at the Reading Gate Retail Park just after 7am when he was challenged by two men wearing dark hooded tops.
They wrenched the cash box from his grasp before running to a waiting, black BMW with the number plate E9GMP which was driven off at speed along the A33 in the direction of the town centre. Police later recovered the car burnt out at Epsom Court off Coley Avenue.
Det Sgt Mark Carolan, from Reading CID, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or who saw the vehicle being dumped."
