POLICE have launched a murder inquiry after a woman was found dead in a Bracknell underpass today (Sunday). Police have arrested a man, who is in custody.

The body of the 43-year-old woman was discovered at an underpass near Bay Drive, Bullbrook just before 8am.

The woman - who police said from the Bracknell area - was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

There are currently some road closures in place in the surrounding area to allow the investigation to continue. These are likely to continue into the night.

Detective Superintendent Paul Hayles, said: "Following forensic tests, the nature and severity of this woman's injuries means this investigation has now become a murder inquiry.

"We would urge anyone who was in or around the area in the early hours of this morning and may have seen anything is asked to please contact us as a matter of urgency."

Anyone who was in the area this morning or has any information which may help officers with their inquiry should contact the 24-hour police inquiry centre on 101.

If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
