POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a man was found stabbed to death at a house in Newbury.

Officers were called to Queens Road at 10pm last night, where a 38-year-old man was found with serious injuries. Paramedics attended but he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Just half an hour earlier, police were called to Boundary Road, where a 33-year-old man was also found with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Three men, aged 20, 22 and 32, were arrested in Thatcham on suspicion of murder in the early hours of this morning and a fourth man, also aged 32, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All four remain in police custody.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place on Monday and formal identification of the victim is not expected before then.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Joe Kidman, said: "The inquiry is in its early stages and we are currently establishing the circumstances of the incident.

"Both victims appear to have stab type injuries. It does appear that the parties involved are known to each other."
