A YOUNG boy has been taken to hospital with head injuries after he was knocked down by a car in King's Road, Reading, this afternoon.

The 12-year-old was in collision with a white Audi A1 outside the Abbot Cook pub at around 4.20pm and was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital with head injuries.

Police spokeswoman Rebecca Webber confirmed that two of the road's three lanes had been closed while police investigated but, speaking at 5.45pm, she said: "The latest update we have had is that traffic is now using the bus lane and seems to be flowing fairly smoothly."
