On the run: Mike Crowder is hoping to raise cash for the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK at the Bath Half Marathon
A DETERMINED marathon runner is encouraging others to put on their running shoes for charity.
Mike Crowder from Sandhurst ran last year's Great South Run and raised £140 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK and has now signed up for the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday, March 7 hoping to raise even more.
The 59-year-old landscaper said: "Not only is running a marathon or half marathon a very good way of getting rid of all that turkey we put in over Christmas, it's also a jolly good thing to do for charity.
"I chose Make-A-Wish because I think the charity does tremendous work. And as my son's girlfriend works for the charity, I always get to read and hear about individual cases. The treats some of the children have are wonderful.
"To see the excitement on the kiddies' faces is tremendous. But when you think that these children are fighting serious illnesses, it makes it even more remarkable."
Anyone interested in raising money for the Make-A-Wish should email runs@make-a-wish.org.uk or call 01276 40 50 89.
