A SPECIALIST business has reached the national finals of a top industry award.
The Millwheel Tack Shop and G. G. Feeds, in Binfield Road, is one of only five other businesses shortlisted for the 2010 British Equestrain Trade Association (BETA) Business Awards.
The shop, which specialises in everything for the horse and rider, has been running for 27 years and is owned by Sara and Gerry Gracey who employ a staff of three.
"We are absolutely chuffed, it is such a prestigious award, we could not believe we were nominated," said Mrs Gracey.
"We do not know who nominated us but customers had to vote for us."
She added: "I would also like to thank my customers who voted for me. It is down to them we got through. It is some 27 years we have been trading and we have never been nominated. "In the best traditions of a specialist retailer we always endeavour to offer a personal yet professional service - and its satisfying to know that our efforts have been rewarded after 27 years of trading."
As part of the final judging, the shop's trade suppliers have been asked to add their votes to those of customers.
BETA is also conducting a series of incognito mystery shops and telephone calls to the shortlisted candidates.
BETA executive director Claire Williams said: "There were more than 5,000 nominations for the BETA/SEIB Retailer of the Year Award, so many congratulations go to Millwheel Tack Shop and G.G. Feeds for reaching the finals."
The winner of the BETA/SEIB Retailer of the Year Award will be announced during the BETA Gala Dinner at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, on Sunday, February 21.
