THREE men were jailed this week following the discovery of a cannabis factory.
Following a trial at Reading Crown Court in October last year Ji He, 30, formerly of High Street, Maidenhead, who pleaded guilty on the second day of his trial, was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment while Guo Long Zu, 41, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the production and supply of cannabis.
A third man Si Qiang Wu, 41 of Canterbury Place, London, pictured right, was also sentenced to three-and-a-half years after being found guilty on December 4, 2009 of being concerned in the production and supply of cannabis which is a class B drug.
The trial followed after an incident in Queen Street, Maidenhead on June 23, last year. Police received reports of a strong smell of cannabis and went to the flats above Ladbrokes at about 5pm.
When officers arrived, several men were seen leaving one of the flats.
As police waited for more officers five men were seen climbing out of the flat window. Two of these men - Ji He and Guo Long Zu - fell to the ground awkwardly, sustaining leg and arm injuries.
In total 11.5 kg of skunk cannabis that had a street value of £115,280 was found at the property.
Investigating officer Iain Watkinson said: "It appears this was a processing plant for the finished product. Nothing like this has ever been found in the Thames Valley Police area and possibly even nationally."
l Two other men, Wen He, aged 24, and Guo Bin Huang, aged 33, who had also been charged with the production and supply of cannabis, were found not guilty after the trial in December.
