Bogus cop back on call

A BOGUS cop has again been targeting Royal Borough residents with hoax calls.

The caller claims to be an officer from Thames Valley Police and says there has been a report of anti-social behaviour in the road and asks the resident to look out the window or go outside to check.

A number of calls were reported to the police over the weekend and a spate of similar calls have been experienced by residents in the last two years.

Neighbourhood watch administrator Jeffrey Pick said: 'If you do get a suspicious call simply put the handset down immediately and press 1471 to see if the number was withheld then report it to the police noting the exact time.

'We have ways of retrieving it. I can assure you these calls are taken seriously by the police and are being investigated by a senior officer from CID.'

To report a call contact the police on 08458 505505.
