Services between Reading and Newbury were temporarily suspended yesterday evening while emergency services worked at the scene.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to Reading West station at 7.40pm on January 15, to reports of a person being struck by a train.
“Colleagues from Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service also attended and a 19-year-old man from Basingstoke was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family has been informed.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
