Firefighters were called to a car blaze on the hard shoulder of the M4 last night.
A woman and her two children escaped unharmed from a Peugeot estate which caught fire around 7.15pm on the westbound carriageway, between junction 14 β off the A338 from Hungerford - and the Membury services.
Firefighter Paul Keen, from Newbury, said: βThe car was totally destroyed, it was completely burnt out. There were three people who were out the car by the time we got there; it was a woman and her two teenage sons.β
Two lanes out of three were initially closed while firefighters tackled the blaze, and crews from Newbury and Dee Road spent around half an hour at scene, using water and foam to dampen the flames.
The cause is unknown.
