A NIGHTCLUB at the centre of a murder probe has had its licence revoked.

Reading Borough Council's licensing committee rescinded Face Bar's permission to operate during a meeting behind closed doors at the Civic Centre last night.

The decision came exactly a month after 17-year-old London Jordan Malutshi died at the Chatham Street club in the early hours of July 1.

Council spokesman Oscar Mortali said: "Members resolved to revoke the premises licence of Face Bar, as the licensing objectives had been undermined, in particular the prevention of crime and disorder and the protection of children from harm."

"The licensees of Face Bar have two options. They can either accept the committee's decision, in which case the licence will be revoked 21 days after the council has issued a decision letter.

"Alternatively, they may appeal the committee's decision to the magistrates' court and in the interim period, prior to an appeal hearing, the premises may remain open. A magistrates' court hearing could possibly be early in the new year."

*Jerome Small, 31, from Arbour Close, Coley, appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of Jordan Malutshi and was remanded in custody to appear a at Reading Crown Court later in the year.
