THERE is still time for charities, clubs and churches to pitch in at a vibrant family festival uniting community groups and organisations in west Reading.
The Oxford Road Community Fun Day returns to Kensington Road Recreation Ground from noon-4pm on Saturday, June 30, and groups and individuals have until Friday, June 22, to reserve space to set up stalls or displays and run activities.
The extravaganza, organised by Reading Borough Council, Southern Housing Group and Thames Valley Housing, includes a raft of family activities including circus skills, sing-a-longs, football competitions and a barbecue and ice cream van.
Reading Sea Cadets, Emmanuel Methodist Church, OpenHand OpenSpace, Battle Library, YMCA and the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre are among community groups setting up stalls offering everything from face painting, arts, crafts, games and competitions.
Crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the British Red Cross and the Oxford Road Community Police Team will demonstrate their vehicles and equipment and the Oxford Road Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG), Community Savings and Loans (Credit Union Berkshire) and the West Village Residents' Association will run stands.
Southern Housing senior community regeneration officer Kim Jakubiszyn said: "This is a fantastic community event which is becoming an essential event for the Oxford Road community and we are happy to accept more expressions of interest."
