HUNDREDS of guests took a trip up and down the Thames last Thursday to mark the introduction of a touch of royalty at the Crowne Plaza.

The hotel has unveiled its newest facility, the Windrush 46, a 46ft long boat formerly used by the Queen for royal trips along the Thames.

The boat, which was bought a year ago, has been carefully restored to its former glory and is now available for corporate or private entertaining.

To mark the occasion, hundreds of guests were entertained, with food, drink and live music before setting off for a trip up and down the river on the Caversham Princess. Numbers were too great to take them all on the Windrush.

Hotel general manager Neil Muir said: 'To have such a prestigious vessel available to our guests is very exciting and will allow us to take full advantage of our perfect position on the banks of the river.
