YOUNG performers from across the area will seek to wow the crowds at a Battle of the Bands night.

Bracknell and Wokingham College is hosting the I'm With The Band event from 5.30pm tomorrow (Friday), with performances from 6pm.

It will be judged by a representative from Bring the Noise Productions event company from Reading and Andy Rogers from The Redan pub in Wokingham, which holds regular live music night for local bands.

Mr Rogers said: "It's difficult for bands when they're starting out, so I feel it's important to encourage and support independent music, especially locally."

There are due to be performances by Fallen Mist (members from sixth forms in Reading and Wokingham); Our Final Debut (Marlow); Limitless (High Wycombe); The Helium Party (the college and the Bracknell area); Carce Belorn (the college), and Streetfight Silence (Bracknell with drummer from Easthampstead Park School).

Tickets cost £3 and are on sale in advance or on the night at the college's centre in Church Road, Bracknell. The college's cafe will be open for refreshments on the night and there will be performances by local acoustic acts during the interval.
