Visitors drop in to popular venue

VISITORS to South Hill Park had their eyes on the skies when passengers in a helicopter dropped in for a meeting earlier today (Friday).
The helicopter, a Robinson R44 Raven II G-ROTG, arrived at the popular arts centre shortly after 1pm and created quite a stir, with visitors to the centre and staff enjoying the spectacular landing.
Speaking shortly after their descent, one of the two passengers, Peter Baber, explained why they were in Bracknell.
He said: 'We"ve come up here from Bristol for a business meeting, my colleague is a pilot and obviously likes to use the helicopter when the opportunity arises.
'I"ve been up in a helicopter once or twice before but it"s not really a regular occurrence for me.'
Having circled the area a couple of times before the landing, Mr Baber got a excellent view of Bracknell and the surrounding area.
He added: 'The journey was a bit bumpy, it"s a bit windy up there today but it was ok. I haven"t been to Bracknell before, it"s my first time and it looked like a very nice place from up there!'

Landing in South Hill Park is not the best of places to land a Helicopter !! it is not a heli pad for lazy business men the way is came in over house's near bay was very frightening for once South Hill park should think of the people who actually have to live in their shadow

Landing in South Hill Park because you cant be bothered to walk, disgraceful!!!! it was so low over my house, I could see the pilot. I think some people need to get their priorities right. It was a beautiful day, and any number of people. children, pets could of been in that field!! How Selfish can you get!!! Mybe South Hill Park should take a little more consideration to the neighbours around them next time!

Your comments assume that they they even bothered to check with the Park before landing - i really wish people would stop continually attacking the Park - Bracknell would be a worse place without it and you would soon moan if someone puts in an application for 200 houses or flats instead.
And to the frankly ridiculous comment "It was a beautiful day, and any number of people. children, pets could of been in that field!! " There obviously weren't any number of people, children or pets or they would wouldn't have been able to land.
It does surprise me that they didn't use North Lake instead of landing inthe much tighter area between the House and the Lake.

Houses and flats would be better than the rubbish SHP produce most of the time the classes are two expensive and in all the years I have been here I have never felt welcome in there

This is big news!
I am very interested in a helicopter landing in a place.
Especially when it's a Robinson R44 Raven II G-ROTG.
Crikey.

Havent we got more important things to worry about in this world, like if that lonely old lady down the road coping with the hot weather?? Or how shall we tackle the litter problem in our area.
Moan about the things you can change not that you cant change.
To be honest its not like every day they have a helicopter landing.

If you look at the comments further up from neighbours of South Hill Park it is quite clearly news and of interest to the general public.

I don't think it's news, I think you just looked out of your window and wrote what you saw.
I can see a pigeon pecking at a fag butt outside my window, can I have a blog on your website?

This is quite clearly not a news story.
If it is then why do those newspapers whose areas cover the major airports not spare space within their publications and on their websites for when a boeing 747 or jumbo jet comes in to land or takes off, brings noise disturbance to those people in nearby homes on a daily basis.
Poor and lazy journalism in my opinion.
Actually - a pumped up Vauxhall Nova with a excessively loud air filter has just driven down Peacock Lane.
Hold the front page, or perhaps not.
People will soon be getting column inches for passing wind.
Pathetic.
