EVENTS to say thank you to the borough's carers will be taking place across Wokingham next week.

From Monday (11), Wokingham Borough Council will be teaming up with Wokingham Outreach Service, Barkham Day Hospital Memory Clinic, Involve, The Wade Day Centre, and the Bradbury Centre to organise a programme of events and activities to mark Carers Week 2018.

Unpaid carers throughout Wokingham Borough will be treated to a series of events as a way of saying 'thank you' to those whose work often goes unnoticed.

On Monday, pampering sessions will be held at the Bradbury Centre, in Wokingham between 11am and 3.30pm; on Tuesday participants can sample a cookery session from 10am to midday at Earley Resource Centre, in Warbler Drive; and afternoon tea will be served at Swallowfield Park from 1pm to 3.30pm on Thursday, June 14.

Information stalls will be manned by Wokingham Outreach Service at the Council Offices in Shute End from Monday to Friday.

Places for any of the sessions need to be booked in advance, and a respite service is available to allow carers to attend the afternoon tea event. Places are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Young carers will also be included in the week-long celebration, with a fun-packed day of sport, face painting, ice cream and special guests at Woodley Memorial Ground on Saturday, June 16 from 9.30am to 3.45pm. The new 3G pitch at Arborfield leisure centre will also be open for them to try out on Thursday, June 14.

For more information or to book a place on any of these sessions please contact the Wokingham Outreach Service on (0118) 324 7333 or ask@berkshirecarershub.org.
