A 48-year-old has been jailed for seven years after having sex with a vulnerable woman with severe learning difficulties.

Andrew Johnson was convicted of sleeping with the woman who was in her thirties between October 2014 and July the next year.

A forensic psychologist found her learning difficulties were so profound she was unable to give consent but Johnson slept with her three times during the 10 months.

Thames Valley Police officers arrested him on July 2 last year.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Rachel Kluger of Maidenhead Force CID, said: “This conviction would not have been possible without the consistent hard work and support of Bracknell Adult Social Care Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities, the dedication of the lawyers and barristers involved and the wider police family.

“It is a prime example of how a multi-agency approach works to protect the most vulnerable members of our communities.”

Johnson, of Jubilee Court, Bracknell was convicted by a unanimous jury of three counts of sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder who was unable to give consent at Kingston Crown Court on March 31.

Today he was sentenced to seven years in prison after appearing at the same court.

He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life and issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
