THE LEXICON could be getting a new fancy addition, as plans for an outdoor shelter area are put forward.

Bracknell Forest Council's planning committee is set to debate the plans, which were put forward by Christopher Mansfield, of Time Square, Bracknell.

The proposals are set out to install a permanent canopy structure enclosing an existing public open space, to enable the space to be used throughout the year for performance and community events.

The canopy will be set up just outside the Fenwick store in the town centre.

Bracknell Town Council was consulted on the plans, but found no objections.

The arch will be 5m at its highest point and extend approximately 11 metres back into the Square.

A committee report on the council website states: "The provision of a canopy over part of Bond Square is considered to be appropriate in terms of the character of the public space. Bond Square is intended to be used for events and public performances and a canopy over part of the Square will make this a more attractive events space in terms of providing protection from the weather."
