FIRE crews are calling on residents to be careful as the temperatures soar, after one garden fire almost got out of hand.
A disposable barbecue was dumped in the bin at a home in Chisbury Close, Bracknell, on Saturday July 14.
The barbecue was then warmed up by the excessive heat, and damaged the bin, two sheds, the decking area and a car.
Fire crews from Bracknell and Ascot spent an hour and 35 minutes dealing with the blaze.
Station Manager, Stephen Beard, said: “It’s important to remember that after cooking, you should make sure the barbecue is cool before moving it. Make sure you dispose of the ashes safely, not into dustbins or wheelie bins. If they’re hot they could melt the plastic and cause a fire.
“Also, if you are planning to have a barbecue, make sure you place it well away from sheds, fences, trees, shrubs or garden waste.”
