SANDY LANE Primary School has been forced to close today due to a sewage leak.
The school, situated opposite Garth Hill College, was due to be hosting the mayor for a tour today, but that has been cancelled due to the sewage.
Mayor Tina McKenzie-Boyle was set to visit the school, but all key stage two years have been forced to close.
A statement on the school's Facebook page read: "Due to an extreme drain/sewerage leak, we have had to close KS2 (Year 3,4,5,6) for health and safety reasons.
"We apologise about the inconvenience and Short notice.
"Currently, KS1, Nursery and Reception are open.
"Many thanks"
