Langley Hall Primary Academy has showcased the musical talents of its Year 3 and Year 4 students at its annual Music for All concerts.
Langley Hall has a strong music focus, and teaches all its students to play the violin through free group lessons that run from Year 1 to the end of Year 3.
Many students continue to play past this, taking Grade 2 or Grade 3 examinations by the end of of Year 6, and all students are continue learning at least one instrument throughout their time at the school.
In addition to the violin recital, there was a performance from the after-school African drumming club, a recorder performance, and a series of songs taken from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Executive headteacher Sally Eaton said: “Children at Langley Hall start to play the violin in their music workshop classes from the age of 5. They start to sit musical instrument exams from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in year 3 and 4.
“According to this organisation no other UK school had more pupils sitting exams last year than Langley Hall. We are very proud of the children’s achievements and the most recent concert gave them the opportunity to showcase their skills.”
