Couple stranded for two hours waiting for ambulance after car crash

At 5.23pm on September 5 Linda Tudor and her husband Michael were travelling along Rackstraw Road in Sandhurst.

Their car became involved in a crash with another vehicle, with a 53 year-old man later arrested on suspicion of drink driving at the scene. 

Mrs Tudor and her husband had to then wait two hours to get to A&E due to a lack of ambulances. 

Michael and Linda Tudor released the following statement: "We were unfortunately involved in a traffic accident at Rackstraw Road in Sandhurst in the early evening of  Tuesday 5, September.  

"We were so grateful for the support we were given by local people and witnesses while we had to wait for the ambulance to arrive.  

"So, thank you Becky,  Debbie, Steve, David, and Scott for the hand holding, and the compassion, kindness and reassurance you all showed us during that very difficult hour.   

"We are of course immensely grateful  to the emergency services who attended, who modestly say they are only doing their job, and the excellent staff at Frimley Park Hospital."

South Central Ambulance Service have confirmed that two people were treated at the site and then taken to Frimley Park Hospital.

SCAS has released the following statement: "We can confirm that we were called at 17:19 on 5 September to an incident in Sandhurst.

"We would like to apologise to the patients for the delay in an ambulance arriving on scene.

"We are sorry that on this occasion the timely service that we aim to achieve was not of the standard we set ourselves and strive to deliver for every patient. 

"We would invite the patient and their family to formally contact our Patient Experience team so that we can address any concerns or feedback that they have.

"We take our response to our patients very seriously and we are in the process of reviewing the call and are therefore not able to comment further at this time."
