JAMES Efte took first place in the men’s Captain’s Day at Wexham Park Golf Club.

Vice-captain Efte (5 hcap) came home with 40 points and also won the gross competition with a score of 71 and a share of the two-ball competition prize money.

Jason Pratt claimed second place with 39 points ahead of Steve Venning with 37 points.

Venning was also the winner of the six-hole competition over holes 4,11,12,13,15 and 16.

Wexham also staged a mixed Texas Scramble event on Sunday where one-sixth combined handicap counted with each team member taking at least four tee shots.

The winners trio of Janine Prunty, Rudi Wenhold and Abi Morgan.shot a magnificent gross 63 (nett 55).

It was the third time Wenhold has won the competition in four years, each time with different partners.

Closely behind were Zaf Hanif, Steve Butler and Gary Andrews who shot gross 64 (nett 56).

Iver

RICHARD Frewin held his Captain’s Day in perfect conditions and on a much-improved course at Iver.

John Campbell was the member’s winner with a total of 34 points. It was a good week for Campbell as he also won the Midweek Stableford.

Anthony Foster was second with 33 points and Bob Jenkins a further point behind in third place.

The guest winner was Battelle with 40 points, while former member Paul Maher was second with 38 points. He also won the nearest the pin prize and the two-ball sweep.

Vaughan Passey was successful in the pitch and putt.

Lindsay Slade continued her upturn in form with a fine win in the August Stableford with 32 points, edging out Campbell into second with 31 points. Steve Loosely finished in third.

The August Seniors Medal went to Dennis Halford with an impressive nett 69 and also the two-ball prize.

Dennis Green took second place on countback from Campbell, both scoring a nett 70.
