A LEGENDARY big band has swung back to life thanks to some new blood.

The Supertonics are a 16-piece big band who have been playing shows in Bracknell for over 25 years.

However, it seemed that the band's playing days were drawing to an end recently before some new, enthusiastic musicians breathed some new life into the group.

Bracknell News:

Since then the group, primarily based at South Hill Park, has gone from strength to strength, selling out public concerts.

Band leader David Bennett said: "About 18 months ago, the band was struggling to survive as some members were advancing in years, but under our new, enthusiastic management, and with some new blood amongst the players, things are looking up.

"I'll admit that our main audience is a slightly older generation, but they do seem to love us!

"We play two public concerts a year at South Hill Park, but the jewel in our crown was playing at Jennett's Park Community Centre to a sell-out audience of about 120.

"It was a super event, and we're repeating it on Sunday, October 1. Ticket sales are again on track to sell out before the event."
